Wolfgang Gaag

Wolfgang Gaag (born in Waldsassen), has begun as a balance engineer after his graduation at the Berlin TU University and at the Berlin Music High School(Major in Horn Studies under Prof. Alfred Gohlke).
During his studies he was a solo horn player in the „RIAS Jugendorchester“ and in the „Jeneusses Musicales Weltorchester“. His first engagement as solo horn player in the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra (1969) was during his final exam. He changed into the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra in the same position where Sergiu Celibidache undertook him into the Munich’s Philarmoniker as solo horn player.
His reputation as professor at the Stuttgart Music High School followed the horn professorship transfer to the Munchen Music High School.
Wolfgang Gaag was a member of the Festspielorchester Bayreuth, is a member and co-founder of the renowned chamber music associations such as „Deutsche Bläsersolisten“, German Brass, „Villa Musica“, „Odeon-Konzerte“. His varied activities as soloist, orchestra and chamber musician lead him together with prestigious music personalities to the big music concerts of the world. Many radio, TV and CD recordings reveal his playing culture and art.
Recently Wolfgang Gaag focuses on teaching as well on solo and chamber music performances. He always proves his extraordinary music, personal and pedagogic skills at different international master classes, festivals and competitions(as juror).
